Who are the VSAT Teaming Associates?

VSAT Teaming Associates are other small businesses and consultants who are recognized  world class experts with skills and capabilities which complement those of VSAT. These capabilities include engineering and operational analysis, software and algorithm development, and simulator system research and development.

John B. Sinacori, Montellego Applied Sciences Inc.  Flight and aerodynamic analysis as well as various aspects of simulator research and design.

Robert L. Shaw, NTI, Inc.  Real aircraft and simulator fighter operations, evaluation and analysis.

Teaming Associates are available to VSAT and to each other under a Memorandum of Understanding, to provide specific needed expertise and to complement each other in forming program teams to best answer customer needs in tough simulation and training system issues.

Why are companies or consultants VSAT Teaming Associates?

Expands the individual’s base of competition. Different associates bring different but related capabilities to the table. One may be able to define the requirement, another can define an approach to solving the requirement, a third may be able to develop it, and a fourth may conduct test and evaluation of the result. Different associates may have access to different markets, which may mean other associates may now be able to tap those markets.

Provides customers with a wide breadth of specialized expertise and expert results. The wide range of capabilities of VSAT complemented by its Teaming Associates is rare, even within a large corporation. This places each associate in a position to excel and obtain follow-on business.

What does the concept of Teaming Associates offer to the customer?

The concept of Teaming Associates offers the advantage of having companies and people with complementary skills and experience working cooperatively to analyze, research, develop, and evaluate solutions for the toughest problems of high technology simulation and training. VSAT and the Teaming Associates can perform as a virtual team for a particular project. This project team can include some of the best expertise in simulation and training in the world, using the Internet for daily interface and communication. Such a team can cover the gamut from studies and analysis, to highly specialized development, to test and evaluation. Teaming Associates may also be called upon individually to quickly and efficiently supplement VSAT capabilities in specific needed areas of expertise.

What are the contractual considerations?

Contractually, a customer may contract with either VSAT or with any of the Teaming Associates it deems appropriate. If it appears to the customer and the prospective team members that one Teaming Associate company should take the lead and enter into the contract, VSAT and any other involved Teaming Associates will work out any subcontractor or consultant relationships. Some factors to be considered would be the customer needs and desires, the end product(s), and the division of labor among the team members.

The company entering into the contract with the customer would have responsibility for performance under the contract, just as in any contract with subcontractors or consultants.

Very minimal pass through charges are added by whoever acts as the prime contractor. Charges for pass through are limited to costs that can be directly attributable to managing and performing work on the effort, and any licensing attributable to patents or use of proprietary information.
